Daniel's Hair Salon was established in 1980 by French hair stylist Daniel Chreky. Located in one of the District of Columbia's finest areas; Daniel's is only minutes away from Georgetown.
Interview with Daniel about hairstyling, coloring, and beauty care.
Q: "Daniel, what new hair fashions are now in style in Washington?"
D: "The trend is going to long, soft layers. Perms are softer, as well, and people like soft, subtle highlighting."
Q: "You are a colorist as well as a stylist. What do you look for when you consider coloring a woman's hair?"
D: "Two things. The quality of my client's hair color and her skin tone."
Q: "What do you mean?"
D: "Oh, hair is never one solid color and to keep a natural effect we must use a base color and then use foil to create subtle shadings in the color. This is very important."
Q: "And what about the skin tone?"
D: "I pay close attention to it. It influences my work with color shadings. This is more important than before because women are now using more of the soft neutral makeups."
Q: "What's happening with makeup."
D: "Right now, we are seeing more use of coral, the brown tones, and various shades of slate."
Q: "What new products are you using this winter?"
D: "I am using several of the new silicone-based hair treatments because they provide a shiny, glossy finish. They leave hair softer and shinier, without hardening the way some other products do."
